Sodium polyacrylate is a food additive approved by the US FDA and the Ministry of Health and Welfare of Japan.It has been used since the 1960s and is used for thickening, gluten-enhancing and fresh-keeping of various foods.In 2000, the Chinese Ministry of Health also officially approved it as a food additive.In the field of food processing, Sodium polyacrylate has many functions such as thickening, emulsifying, shaping, expanding, and stabilizing. Its viscosity is about 15.20 times that of CMC and sodium alginate. It can replace CMC, gelatin, agar, and sodium alginate, reduce production costs, improve food grade, improve taste, and extend shelf life.
